Privacy

Consistent with Victorian Government policy, the Department endorses fair information handling practices. The Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development does not collect or record personal information, except that which you provide freely via specific online forms. Any information provided will be treated as confidential and used only for the purpose intended or stated on the form unless in exceptional circumstances where authorised by law.

Visitor logs are used on this site for statistical purposes only and include the user's server address, the user's top level domain name (eg .com .gov .au), the date and time of the visit, pages downloaded, and browsers used. No attempt will be made to identify users or browsing activity. This information will only be used to update and improve the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development site.

Email addresses will only be used to respond to specific user queries and will not be kept or used for any purpose other than stated. Email addresses will not be added to a mailing list unless consent is given, nor disclosed to any other party without users knowledge or consent.

Purpose of survey

Multimedia Victoria is currently seeking information from users of participating Victorian government websites in order to improve the design and content of Victorian government websites. RedSheriff, a web analytics provider, has been engaged to undertake research into Victorian government website usage including through this pop-up survey. RedSheriff is bound contractually to comply with the Victorian Information Privacy Act 2000.

Collection of information

This survey uses cookies (small data files) to help gather information that will assist in understanding what users find interesting and useful on Victorian government websites. These cookies are known as your "unique visitor cookie" and identify users only by random number. Neither the Victorian government nor RedSheriff collect, or are able to collect, your personal information through the use of RedSheriff cookies.

Users can choose not to accept cookies by setting their browsers to refuse all cookies. Users can also choose to receive notification of when a cookie is set and decline or accept it on a case-by-case basis.
This survey only collects non-identifying user information. Neither the Victorian government nor RedSheriff collect, or are able to collect, your personal information through the survey.

Collection of personal information

Personal information may be collected in relation to this survey if you choose to use Multimedia Victoria's survey feedback service. In this case, Multimedia Victoria will only use your email address for the purpose of responding to you.
Security
All demographic information provided through this survey will be held securely by RedSheriff on secure servers that may only be accessed by authorised RedSheriff personnel. Any email addresses provided to Multimedia Victoria will be held securely and consistently with Multimedia Victoria's security policy.
