Forming and Maintaining Winning Business Relationships
In October 2007, Small Business Commissioner Mark Brennnan launched a major study of Australian business leaders conducted by Deloitte on behalf of the VSBC. The study revealed that successful companies – big and small – believe that a vital part of their success is their relationship with other businesses.

The study, Forming and Maintaining Winning Business Relationships, was the result of the Small Business Commissioner writing to Australian and Victorian business leaders highlighting his concerns about unacceptable conduct by many business organisations including bullying, harassment and abuse of market power.

The study identified seven essential behaviours, for successful long term, mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships.

 - Alignment with businesses that share the same values
 - Commitment to treat each relationship as a long term arrangement based on trust
 - Mutual Interest of each business to achieve a common goal of a profitable, sustainable and on-going relationship.
 - Communication must be clear, transparent, frequent and at the right level
 - Accountable and Responsible agreeing to obligations and responsibilities and immediately alerting business partners of any problem or mistake.
 - Professional Conduct in all interactions
 - Pre-agreed Dispute Resolution is essential so that any disagreements can be dealt with quickly and the relationship can continue with minimum disruption.

Copies of the report, Forming and Maintaining Winning Business Relationships, can be downloaded below, as well as a copy of a 6 page summary and a flyer.
